Before choosing a machine, it’s important you understand the key features that matter for design, layout, image editing, motion-graphics or illustration work. Below are the big ones:
1. Display & Colour Accuracy
A high-resolution screen (4K, or at least QHD) gives you more workspace and sharper visuals.
Panels with wide colour gamut (100% sRGB, strong AdobeRGB or DCI-P3 coverage) are important so your work looks accurate when printed or displayed elsewhere.
If you’re into illustration/sketching, a touch screen / stylus support or convertible form factor helps.
2. CPU, GPU & RAM
Modern CPUs (Intel Core i7/i9 13th-14th Gen or AMD Ryzen 7/9) or Apple Silicon (M2/M3/Max) are recommended. GPU matters if you do motion graphics/3D/rendering; for pure 2D design it’s less critical but still beneficial.
RAM: Minimum 16 GB, ideally 32 GB or more if you multitask heavily.
Storage: SSD is a must (fast boot/loads). 512 GB minimum; 1 TB or higher preferred for large project files.
3. Portability, Battery & Build Quality
If you’ll carry the laptop to class, cafés, or freelancing meetings: weight and battery matter. Under ~2.5 kg is more comfortable.
Good battery life ensures you’re not always near a plug when working.
Build/design matters: vents/cooling systems help if you run heavy design software for long sessions.
4. Ports & Expandability
USB-C/Thunderbolt, SD card reader, HDMI – if you plan to connect to external monitors or graphics tablets, these help. Upgradeability: some laptops let you increase RAM or SSD later (less common in ultra-thin models).
5. Budget & Local Support
In Bangladesh (or region), consider price, warranty, local service centres, and whether the imported model works with your plugs/voltage and software.
Also consider the software you use (Adobe Creative Cloud, Illustrator, etc) and check minimum/recommended specs.
